Stardew Valley - Efficient Start

For people who want to get the community center opened in year 1 it's important to get the best possible start. This is a detailed guide of what to do and in what order in the first season of the game, along with some important considerations for overall efficiency

Day 1

Clear the area in front of your house of weeds and rocks
Chop trees and single branches until you have 50 wood then make a chest and put it next to your mailbox
Plow and water a 6 x 3 plot in front of your house
Forage to get at least 2 mixed seeds, 1 of which must be a cauliflower, and 1 a parsnip
Plant the 16 parsnips and the cauliflower
Go to Pierre's and buy 1 green bean starter for 60g
Go back and plant the green bean in the last spot of your plot
Use whatever energy you have left to clear more trees, weeds and rocks from the front of your house
Make another chest

Day 2

Water your 18 crops and load the second chest into your inventory
Visit Willy to get your fishing rod
Spend the rest of the day fishing at the mountain lake. Use the chest for excess fish

Day 3

Fish all day. If you're level 3 or 4 you could try river fishing for catfish. Otherwise it's back to the mountain lake
Once you have 1800g buy the fiberglass rod

Day 4

Water your 18 crops
Fish all day at the mountain lake

Day 5

Harvest the 16 parsnips. This will give you 128 farming xp (level 1). Put 1 regular parsnip in your chest
Extend the 6 x 3 plot to a 7 x 3 then water it and clear land until at least 8am
Head into town (this will trigger the community center event unless it's raining)
If it's not raining enter the community center and trigger the junimo writing
Go to Pierre's and sell your remaining parsnips
Buy 19 potato seeds for 950g and plant them
Go to the mines. Get as deep as you can
Collect 45 copper ore, make a furnace and smelt five copper bars

Day 6

Water your crops
Build a scarecrow
Build a furnace then take it to the mines
Visit the wizard to trigger the community center bundles
Go to the mines and get as deep as you can. Smelt ore as you go

Day 7

Water your crops
Sell your fish once you have 2000g worth
Take your pickaxe to Clint for upgrading
Fish for the rest of the day at the mountain lake

Day 8

Water your crops
Fish all day at the mountain lake

Day 9

Water your crops
Pick up your axe from Clint
Go to the mines. Collect 25 copper ore, 25 iron ore, and 10 coal and smelt the ores into bars

Day 10

Water your crops
Go to the mines for more copper and iron

Day 11

Harvest the green bean and put it in your chest. This will give 9xp
Harvest the 19 potatoes. These will give 266xp, bringing your total to 394xp (level 2). Put one potato in your chest
Water the cauliflower
Go to the mines, stopping off at Pierre's to sell the remaining potatoes

Day 12

Water the cauliflower
Go to the mines, make the 5 regular sprinklers and continue to collect and smelt copper and iron
Return to the farm with the 5 sprinklers

Day 13

Harvest the cauliflower
Place the 5 sprinklers then plow and water the 20 spaces that the sprinklers will water
Go to the egg festival and buy 80 strawberry seeds then leave
Run to the community center and hand in the parsnip, potato, green bean and cauliflower to complete the spring crops bundle
Collect the speed-gro and return to the farm
Sow the 20 spots with speed-gro
Plant 20 of your 80 strawberry seeds then go to bed

Day 14

Go to the mines and continue collecting copper and iron ore
Smelt copper and iron ores into bars and turn the bars into sprinklers

Day 15

Go to the mines and continue collecting copper and iron ore
Smelt copper and iron ore into bars and turn the bars into sprinklers

Day 16

Once you have the other 15 sprinklers place them in an efficent layout
Plow and water the spots around the new sprinklers
Plant the remaining 60 strawberry seeds
Now that all 80 strawberry seeds are planted the first 20 should be ready to harvest on the 20th, then on the 24th and again on the 28th, giving a total of 1080xp. The other 60 strawberries will be ready to harvest on the 24th, and again on the 28th, giving a total of 2160xp. So the total return on all strawberry harvests combined is 3240xp. Add this to the 426xp gained from the previous harvests and you will achieve farming level 6 after the final strawberry harvest with a grand total of 3666xp

Days 17 through 27

Continue down through the mine levels until you reach at least floor 80. Here you will find gold ore. Smelt this into gold bars and continue collecting iron ore for iron bars and quartz for refined quartz bars. These 3 items are what's required to make quality sprinklers. Hoard as many gold, iron and refined quartz bars as possible until your last strawberry harvest unlocks quality sprinklers

Day 28

Harvest the last crop of strawberries and sell them

Summer Day 1

Buy blueberry seeds according to how many quality sprinklers you managed to make. No more manual watering!

Things to remember

Never fully fill the hay trough in the barn - if you do you'll not be able to remove any hay from a silo. A full silo means no grass cut will turn to hay
Buy a pig as soon as possible for year 1 community center completion. It takes 10 days for pigs to produce truffles, and they can't do so in winter
Sacercrows are not required if you have less than 16 crops (or if your crops are on Ginger Island as there are no crows there)
Mine level 40 is where iron starts appearing, level 80 is where gold starts appearing
You must donate the first ancient seed you come across to the museum. This will give you an ancient seed pack and the recipe
To obtain more ancient seeds you need to put the first ancient fruit produced from your starter seed into a Seed Maker

Ginger Island

On your first trip to Ginger Island be sure to take 3 seeds with you: 1 wheat, 1 melon and 1 garlic. Plant these as soon as you repair the hut
Also bring your watering can to make bridges over lava, and a slingshot to shoot down a walnut from the tree next to the volcano
Prioritize gaining access to the west coast. This is where the sleep hut is located. It costs 10 walnuts to remove the turtle blocking access
Pay 20 walnuts to repair the sleep hut then another 5 to unlock access to your emails (but more importantly it unlocks warp tower access)
Pay another 20 walnuts to have the Island Warp Tower built. Now you can get back to town without having to go to the boat or use warp totems
Hold off trading for the banana sapling until you've had Clint break open any golden coconuts you pick up, as they can drop from these
Beware opeing the island resort as, although it unlocks access to the east side of the island, it also makes using villager services problematic
Once the island resort is open check where Gus is every day. You can only get the tropical curry recipe from him when he's on the island
